In a pivotal move signaling an exciting new chapter for Baltimore Celtic, the club has announced the departure of Stephen Basso and the promotion of two key figures. Bradley Sellar will take the reins as General Manager and Director of Coaching, while Brian Rowland will assume the role of Technical Director and Head of the Baltimore Celtic’s Academy program.
Bradley Sellar, stepping into his new role, brings a wealth of experience to the table. He currently serves as Celtic Boys Director and as the head coach of the boys Varsity team at Glenelg Country Day School and is an assistant coach at Stevenson University. Brad is also passionate about community involvement and will help Celtic grow more in that area as well. His extensive knowledge and hands-on approach have been pivotal in developing young talent and preparing them for higher levels of competition. Bradley’s enthusiasm for his new position at Baltimore Celtic is palpable. “I am extremely excited to take on this role at a time of growth for the club, and am thankful for the Board’s trust in our shared vision for the future. I look forward to working closely with and learning from Brian Rowland as we work hard to take the club to the next level. We have a great staff and foundation to build upon thanks to all of Steve’s hard work over the past few years. I wish him all the best in this new adventure and look forward to visiting him in sunny Florida!”
Brian Rowland, appointed as Technical Director and Head of the Baltimore Celtic Academy program, also boasts an impressive resume, including his current role as Celtic ECNL Director. He also serves as an Associate Head Coach at UMBC, was the head coach at Temple University, was an assistant coach at the University of Maryland and held the position of Director of Coaching at Ukrainians Soccer Club in Philadelphia before moving back to the Baltimore region. Brian’s rich coaching experience and strategic acumen in developing soccer programs make him a perfect fit for Baltimore Celtic. Expressing his excitement, Brian stated, “I am incredibly excited to assume the role of Technical Director at Baltimore Celtic. I am grateful to club leadership for entrusting me with this responsibility. Baltimore Celtic has a strong foundation with excellent coaches and staff who will help support our players and families as they pursue their goals and aspirations. I am grateful to Steve Basso for returning me to the club, and am very excited for him and his new role. Baltimore Celtic has grown over the past 18 months, and I look forward to working closely with Brad Sellar as we continue our focus on player development and establishing a winning culture both on and off the field.”
Carl Delmont, President of Baltimore Celtic, also shared his thoughts on the leadership transition, “I have enjoyed working with Basso with the Heat and with Celtic and appreciate his efforts helping Celtic grow. This is a great opportunity for him to now help a young Florida club grow and an amazing opportunity for us to promote two current Directors in Brad and Brian. In all candor, I have never been more excited for Celtic players and families as we have a great deal of exciting news to share in the coming months.”
