Baltimore Celtic Player Spotlight – Van Danielson

1. What high school do you attend?

Mount Saint Joseph High School

2. How long have you been with Celtic/Celtic Union?

I joined Baltimore Celtic in 2017

3. What is your favorite thing about your team?

I love how competitive our team is, we have 28 guys and each of them has the ability to change the game.

4. You were recently named a High School All-American. How did that make you feel? What are you most looking forward to with the upcoming All-American game?

It is an incredible honor to be named a High School All-American. I was partially shocked and also excited when I found out. I am most looking forward to being able to meet other top players from around the country and getting to represent my school as well as Celtic.

5. What position do you play?

I play right mid/wing

6. Do you have any favorite soccer memories?

My favorite soccer memory is scoring a goal at the 2019 USYS National Championships and celebrating with my team as well as the older age groups who were there watching us.

7. What are your future goals in soccer?

I hope to play Division One soccer and hopefully continue my career professionally after I graduate.

8. What has the college recruiting process been like for you this year with so many changes to in-person recruiting, etc? How have you gone about trying to be noticed by coaches?

The recruitment process has been challenging this year, especially with the inability to visit campuses and truly get a feel for the school and the program. The main way I have been able to be noticed by coaches is by emailing them repeatedly. Even if they don’t respond right away I have continued to send emails with hope that they eventually will reply.

9. What is the best piece of advice you have received from a coach?

The best advice I have received from a coach as an attacker is to not let one mistake ruin your attitude, even if you win one out of ten duels against a defender, you won the battle.
